1315 Engineering Metamaterials: Rational Design and Additive Manufacturing

The symposium addresses the recent advances and trend of engineering various metamaterials particularly mechanical metamaterials, using the latest development in rational design methodologies (e.g., structural topology optimization) and additive manufacturing techniques. The symposium provides an excellent platform to bring together researchers in this multidisciplinary research domain to exchange scientific ideas and foster future collaborations.

Topics of interest for this symposium include, but are not limited to the following themes:
1.Rational design methodologies for artificially engineering material architectures.
2.High-performing and high-definition methods for large scale topology optimization problems.
3.Advanced numerical methods (e.g., eXtended Finite Element Method, Meshless Methods; and Isogeometric Analysis techniques) for design.
4.Mechanical, phononic and photonic metamaterials.
5.Multifunctional and multiscale cellular/lattice composites and structures.
6.Topologically optimized designs and additive manufacturing.
7.Design for robustness and reliability under uncertainty.
8.Simulation and Design with artificial intelligence and data mining techniques.
9.Application of metamaterials in engineering and science domains.
